Introduction to condensing technology
A condensing boiler is a highly efficient modern boiler that is essentially the same as a normal fan-flued boiler. The difference is that it has a special heat exchanger, which absorbs more of the heat from the burner and flue gases. With a normal fan-flued boiler some of the energy produced escapes in the form of water vapour mixed with exhaust gases via the flue. With condensing boilers the return water is cool enough to cool the exhaust gases to around 55°C, the exhaust gases condense and release latent heat back into the boiler, which would otherwise be lost. This is why the exhaust gases from a condensing boiler are much lower temperature than a conventional boiler. Generally a condensing boiler emits exhaust gases that are around 50-60°C, compared to 150-250°C from a normal boiler.
Benefits of Chaffoteaux & Maury condensing boilers
The high performance of C&M condensing boilers does not mean increased pollution. In fact it is the complete opposite. Due to the pre-mix burner used in the special heat exchanger, the exhaust gases contain low CO and NOx. This is perhaps why condensing boilers have been cited by the UK government as means of reducing the emission of harmful greenhouse gases. In 2002 a new version of the Building Regulations came into force introducing a minimum SEDBUK* efficiency and promoting the use of condensing boilers.
The main benefits of condensing boilers are:
Reduced carbon dioxide emissions - helping to combat global warming.
Improved household efficiency thus reducing fuel bills.
Able to be used with low temperature systems such as under floor heating.
Compatible with the latest control systems technology.
Eligible for certain government/local authority grants.

Calydra Green
Calydra Green features all the benefits of the condensing technology within the Centora Green, but offers the addition of a mini D.H.W. storage cylinder. As an integral part of the Calydra series, the Temperature Stabilising System - TSS® an exclusive C&M innovation offers not only superior D.H.W. flow rates, but stable temperatures. This is of particular importance when more than one outlet is used at the same time. Also, thanks to the built-in mini-storage cylinder, it is possible to supply D.H.W. as soon as the tap is opened. And when the demand is low, for example washing hands, there is no need for the boiler to fire up - saving even more energy! The same dimensions as a standard combi boiler.
Increased D.H.W. flow rates.
Thanks to the TSS®, immediate supply of D.H.W. is available as soon as the tap is opened.
Able to cope with multiple D.H.W. draw off requests simultaneously.
Available in 24 & 30 kW outputs.
Price: £853.05 (Excluding: VAT at 20%)
